College Admissions Counseling
Mapping the application process — During our college counseling sessions, our experts discuss the entire process so you can see the big picture. We work with students on completing the Common App, UC Application, CSU Application, Coalition Application, and college-specific applications. We will help you determine the best application strategies for each of your schools: Regular Decision, Early Action, Restrictive Early Action, Early Decision 1 or 2, and Rolling Admissions.
Academic Advising
Our counselors will work with you as early as freshman year to ensure you choose the best courses as you compose a strong academic portfolio. We can help you step up your game during sophomore year to take advantage of the resources in your high school and community. Junior year stress is real! We will help you balance athletics and academics to ensure you don’t burn out during the college application process. We also help seniors modify their plans or enhance their academic portfolio.
Essay development and editing
Along the way, we assess student writing strengths and weaknesses to help them deliver appropriate content for college essays. From interpreting prompts and choosing the best content, students will gain a better awareness of their abilities to write for essays.
Financial aid/scholarship info
We discuss financial aid and scholarship opportunities specific to each school. We help families research scholarships to provide as many options as possible. We also help you understand the FAFSA and why is it important to complete this form even if you think your family does not qualify for need aid.
Community Service
An excellent way to show your involvement locally is through community service. We help students choose appropriate organizations and manage their time throughout high school. It’s not about how many hours you do: it’s about how deeply you become involved to make an impact on your community.
Test Prep
We advise students on how best to prepare for the ACT and SAT. By discussing timelines and carefully managing your calendar, we help you maximize your potential with each test while balancing your school work load. Our counselors provide key strategies for each test that will help you become more intimate with test formats and more confident with your test-taking ability. Tahoe Tutoring can help structure a plan to meet your test prep goals.
HOW WE DO IT
Evolve Academics counselors will listen to you. We will help you own your academic career and build a suitable plan that you can manage. To do so, our counselors utilize an online platform, CollegePlannerPro (CPP), that maintains your data and keeps you organized. CPP offer scheduling tools to make sure you meet deadlines. They allow you to make appointments, ask questions, and research schools. Our counselors will coach you through the platform so you feel empowered and efficient during the entire college application process.
