Key qualifications and details:
Hello class of ’16! My name is Calvin Fletcher and I graduated in the John Monash Science School 2014 cohort with an ATAR of 99.85. As the founder of Evolve Academics, I thank you for taking the time to browse our tutor page.
Note first of all that the VCE English Language study design has changed for 2016 onwards, and the VCE Chemistry study design has changed for 2017. I have adapted my material to fit these changes put forth by VCAA.
In 2015, I ran five regular group classes a week. This experience has taught me a lot about pacing, appropriate time commitment and has also given me time to refine my approach to teaching. My prowess has also been illustrated in my university ventures, and I took the position of Monash University Medical Undergraduates Society (MUMUS) Academic Representative for 2nd year medical students.
In 2016 I ran three VCE English Language workshops, one on the analytical commentary, one on the essay and one for exam revision. Half-day sessions, these workshops attracted a consistent 30 VCE students per class. I ran ten regular group classes a week for VCE Chemistry and VCE English Language.
Lessons are prepared in advance under a solid, but flexible structure which can be changed depending on pacing. Notes and materials are printed before the lesson and are provided to students in the class.
Additionally I have an extensive collection of notes, essays (all of the main topics), commentaries and examples for English Language, as well as a plethora of practice material for both Chemistry and English Language.
Finally, as a side note I went through the arduous process of medical admissions back in my year 12, and I am more than happy to share advice and tips for students of mine who are keen on the increasingly competitive course.
